A History of Britain in Ten Enemies is a book for adults and not for the faint-hearted!
For 30 years children have been reading Terry Deary’s beloved Horrible Histories and now their children and even grandchildren are fans. In 2024, in his first full-length book for adults, Terry brings his trademark wit and humour to an adult audience, with this entertaining romp through the greatest hits of British history in A History of Britain in Ten Enemies.
Exploring the question of how a common enemy can unite a nation far more effectively than a common friend, it argues that nations and their leaders are defined by the enemies they make. But has Britain gone too far and accumulated so many enemies that nationalists are deluding themselves into believing in their own greatness?
What is the view of your country from the other side, reflected in the mirrors of ten enemies?
