René Gruau and the Art of Dior
Thursday 3 October
The Court House Ballroom, Jury Street
4.30pm
Throughout the history of the house of Dior, there is one fashion artist who, above all, held carte blanche to illustrate, promote and define the essence of Christian Dior, through a flowing, striking brushstroke that was to become the trademark of Dior’s elegant philosophy.
In this fascinating talk by Connie Gray, discover the life and art of René Gruau (1909-2004) and how this young man from Rimini would have such a profound influence on the career path of Christian Dior himself. His imaginative, beautifully-crafted art is now considered amongst the most iconic fashion images of the 20th century.
With a background in fashion and broadcasting, Connie is a specialist in the history of 20th century fashion illustration and its powerful influence on fashion publications internationally.
