Historic Building Myth Busting: Uncovering Folklore, History and Archaeology
Wednesday 2 October
Castle Hill Baptist Church
2.00pm
Go to any mediaeval site in the land and you will be presented with many exciting interpretations of the buildings around you.
Spiral staircases in castles giving advantage to right-handed defenders. Grooves in church porches made by archers sharpening their arrows. Secret passages leading from manor houses to nunneries. Blocked doors in churches to keep the Devil out …
Such tales are indeed engaging, but, in some cases, they can also be a little misleading – or absolute myths.
Join buildings archaeologist James Wright from Triskele Heritage as he explains and unpicks the development of these myths and investigates the underlying truths behind them.
Tickets £12.00
