Poems chalked onto pavements; broadsheets printed on site and then distributed by hand around festivals; celebratory texts released on balloons; one-off poems created as ‘poet-in-a-car park’ and left on windscreens; and now live internet broadcaster with www.radiowildfire.com; using numerous alternative and ‘guerilla’ ways of getting an audience for his work, Dave Reeves has made his living as a writer and publisher for the last 30 years without ever having a contract with a major publisher, and his writing is read every day by any number of people.
The workshop will guide you through basic alternative ways of gaining an audience and a reputation for your work, and by the end of the session you will have had one piece of work properly published by an established imprint which will you will be involved with distributing throughout the festival and beyond.
Please bring a selection of work with you of no more than one A5 side @ 12 point (that is approximately 20 lines of verse or 350/400 words of prose). Due to the time restrictions imposed by the shape of this session please be prepared for some serious editing.
